Public Relations: the GRC “SET AN EXAMPLE” campaign and the relaunch of DRK.DE
After making the Tracing Service a key theme of World Red Cross Day 2015, the Red Cross made two important announcements on 8 May this year. Both the new GRC “SET AN EXAMPLE” campaign and a new version of the website www.drk.de have been launched successfully. As a key mission of the German Red Cross, the Tracing Service features heavily in both.
The new GRC campaign is designed to showcase the variety of services offered by the GRC. While the red cross is familiar to most people in Germany as a symbol of help, the GRC’s individual services are often not well-known. The new campaign is designed to draw attention to its variety of services and make them more tangible to the public.
In light of this, we’d like to take this opportunity to also present the Tracing Service’s new campaign logo. The symbol chosen is well-known to many people and is usually used to indicate the results of an online search. Consequently, it also represents the success of the Tracing Service’s work – finding missing persons – and the importance of the GRC Tracing Service’s activities to date. The Tracing Service has kept pace with technological and social developments in its activities and working methods for over 150 years. More recent examples of this include the digitalisation of the Central Name Index, the ability to search for people online via photos, and Trace the Face’s new Facebook profile, which was set up in response to growing demand due to global refugee migrations. The Tracing Service may have new technical capabilities, but still maintains the same criteria for adequately protecting its clients, e.g. with regard to data protection. The Tracing Service’s SET AN EXAMPLE campaign logo is the perfect complement to the “Tracing. Connecting. Reuniting.” slogan. You can find more information on the campaign, professional branding materials, and details of how to take part in so-called Supporter Weeks in the internal area of drk.de.
Another 2016 GRC PR initiative is the relaunch of drk.de, which aims to give the website a new, modern appearance. Updated Tracing Service content now has its own, dedicated area on the site and is also available in English at https://www.drk.de/en/tracing-service/. You can find basic information on the Tracing Service and its individual activities at www.drk.de. The link to the trilingual Tracing Service website www.drk-suchdienst.de ensures that interested users can be forwarded to more detailed content and features from the Tracing Service, such as online search tools and the organisation’s newsletter and publications.
