Advice on procedural questions

Support with legal redress

Consultation of relatives. Photo: E. Gurian / GRC tracing serviceWe would be happy to support you with official or court procedures or answer your questions in connection with legal redress in the following matters:

  • Recognition as an ethnic German repatriate (certification in accordance with § 15 of the BVFG),
  • rejection of an admission or inclusion notice,
  • determination of status (recognition of German characteristics),
  • compensation, pension or inheritance matters if you lack evidence,
  • refusal of entry visas,
  • rejection of the subsequent immigration of family members in accordance with the German Aliens Act.

We would also be happy to advise you if the official decisions are unclear to you or you don't know how to proceed.

We will not take on the role of an authorised representative in procedural matters.

Explain your case to us and send us copies of the decisions made in your case.

Are you unable to provide the evidence requested by the authorities? In this case, please ask the authorities to contact the Hamburg office of the GRC Tracing Service with a request for information

The Hamburg office of the GRC Tracing Service provides authorities and other official bodies with information obtained from the documents available to it, for instance information referring to the fate of individuals or to the situation regarding people leaving at a specific time in a specific resettlement area.

The GRC Tracing Service has gathered various documents at its Hamburg office relating to around 9.6 million ethnic Germans and their family members from Eastern and South-eastern Europe.
