Cooperation within the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement

The International Tracing Service Network
(Restoring Family Links/RFL Network)

The GRC Tracing Service works closely with the Tracing Service Network of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in the worldwide search for missing relatives and in supporting family reunification. The Tracing Service Network consists currently of 192 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (as of December 2019) and the Central Tracing Service of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The GRC as part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement consists of three components:

The Deutsches Rotes Kreuz e. V. (German Red Cross) is the National Red Cross Society on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany and voluntary aid society of the German authorities in the humanitarian field. It is part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. With 192 national societies (as of December 2019) the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the largest humanitarian organisation in the world. As a worldwide community, it has been providing comprehensive assistance to people in conflict situations, disasters and health or social emergencies for over 150 years, solely based on their level of need. The international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is committed to the seven principles of the Red Cross:

  • Humanity
  • Impartiality
  • Neutrality
  • Independence
  • Voluntary service
  • Unity
  • Universality
